Des Moines, IA – Pinky Swear Foundation announced today that Iowa-based company, Dean Snyder Construction will once again be the presenting sponsor for the 2020 WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon in December, in partnership with NEWS RADIO 1040 WHO.

Don Snyder, co-owner of Dean Snyder Construction (DSC), became involved with Pinky Swear Foundation after hearing the story of a family dealing with childhood cancer during the 2017 radiothon event.

“A couple of years ago when I first heard about Pinky Swear, it touched me so deeply that I immediately called in to donate,” said Snyder. The company then joined as a sponsor of the 2018 radiothon, then moving up as the presenting sponsor in 2019.  Since that morning in 2018, Don has rallied the DSC employees (200+) and his close friends and colleagues to participate in the annual radiothon. “It’s a parent’s worst nightmare to have their child diagnosed with cancer. The assistance Pinky Swear provides to help with bills that are weighing heavily on these parents allows them to focus on what’s import – their family. We’ve now made it a company priority to support the foundation, which helps to keep our communities strong.”

Each year, one in 11 families with a child diagnosed with cancer files for bankruptcy. Pinky Swear Foundation supports families of children with cancer through direct financial aid for basic needs and through experiences that offer emotional support for the entire family. Founded in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, Pinky Swear Foundation helps families throughout Iowa and beyond.

“I am personally and professionally thankful for Dean Snyder Construction,” said MaryBeth Meyer, partnerships manager for Pinky Swear Foundation. “My son was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2018 and my family received financial and emotional support from Pinky Swear Foundation. With the continued support from community leaders like Dean Snyder Construction, we can continue to assist more children and their families during some of the most difficult days of their lives.”

The 2020 WHO Pinky Swear Radiothon will take place on Friday, December 11.  NEWS RADIO 1040 WHO devotes an entire day to on-air fundraising for the organization and the families it serves. The 2019 radiothon event raised a record-breaking $214,000 and with Dean Snyder Construction’s support, the 2020 event is in line to raise even more support for families with a child battling cancer.
