Committed to Safety
At Dean Snyder Construction, safety is more than a requirement, it’s a core value. Our Safety Program is built to protect our most valuable asset: our people. We aim to create secure, hazard-free job sites that exceed industry standards.
Safety Leadership
Our team includes three full-time safety professionals who lead the way in maintaining a culture of safety. They provide training, conduct job risk analyses, monitor compliance, and support every project site with proactive, hands-on safety management.
Program Foundations
- Employee Well-Being: We take every practical step to protect our team from harm, safety comes first
- Zero-Incident Goal: Our target is zero accidents, always
- Shared Responsibility: Everyone, from leadership to subcontractors, is empowered to speak up and act on safety concerns
Policies & Procedures
- Safe Work Environments: We equip all sites with the necessary tools and protocols to eliminate hazards
- Authority to Act: Every team member has the authority to take immediate action if a safety issue arises
- Certified Training: Regular in-house and partner-led training ensures all team members stay current with safety certifications
- Incident Management: We follow a clear process for reporting and investigating incidents to prevent recurrence
- OSHA Compliance: We stay audit-ready through routine inspections, performance tracking, and ongoing training
Beyond compliance, we believe in a moral responsibility to protect everyone on our projects.
WORKSAFE
DSC partners with the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Iowa OSHA) and Construction Safety Specialists, Inc. to have job sites recognized as WORKSAFE. WORKSAFE is a construction job site safety program that consists of pre-construction planning, job site surveys focused on preventing hazardous conditions from occurring and job site recognition that safety is a top priority for all involved in the project.
We work closely with our insurance company and our association with Master Builders of Iowa to implement proper procedures and encourage compliance through random safety audits on our job sites. Our Safety Incentive Program rewards our workers for consistently performing various safety activities and exhibiting awareness at all times.
Our safety program exceeds all state and federal requirements. We have an excellent safety record, and we continually make improvements where needed so our employees have the safest possible working environment.
