The community of Rockwell City came out to the groundbreaking of their new Fareway store on July 6 with high anticipation of once again having a grocery store in their community of 2,200. Their previous one closed at the end of 2019, having only a Dollar General to grab quick essentials. The nearest other Fareway would be Fort Dodge, a 35-minute drive. This particular Fareway is a smaller model than their typical stores with a small community in mind. It will provide the same products as other stores, just not as many. Coming in around 10,500 SF, the store will be a Sukup pre-engineered steel building. A ribbon cutting is expected in early 2022.
Fareway Stores hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, July 13 for a new store to be located at 604 S. Highway 6 in Gretna. The location will hold a 21,000 SF Fareway grocery store. Construction will begin this month, with expected store completion in spring 2022.
On Thursday, July 15, they then hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Fareway Meat Market in Olathe, Kansas. The 7,400 SF store will be their 6th stand alone meat market and 131st Fareway store. This location will also provide expanded seafood and sushi, artisan cheeses, and prepared foods. Construction will begin in the coming weeks, with expected store completion in spring 2022.
