DSC crews are currently doing an interior buildout on the west end of the former Kmart building in Mason City for Planet Fitness. The 12,000 SF space will be renovated to include framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, signage, vinyl wall coverings, decorating, and interior painting for one of the largest fitness club franchises.
What was previously the service bay area for Kmart, crews first provided structural steel work and demolition for Furniture Mart, the owner of the building, in order to prep it for lease to Planet Fitness. Crews demoed block walls, poured concrete to level the floors, took out overhead doors, and opened up the layout.
This fast-paced project for Planet Fitness will be their first location in North Iowa. Known for their bright and clean facilities, the fitness center will include a large selection of purple & yellow Planet Fitness branded cardio, circuit, and weight-training equipment.
A basic membership is $10/month, while those upgrading to Black Card status for $23/month will enjoy access to additional benefits such as a spa area, tanning beds, hydromassage beds, massage chairs, and access to their 1,800+ locations. Planet Fitness promotes a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment.
Crews started the buildout in September and will be completed with their portion in December. Planet Fitness hopes to open before the end of the year.
