Ankeny Schools Hosts First Skilled Trades Camp, Visits DSC Jobsite

Twenty-four high school age students gathered the second week in July for Ankeny Community School’s 1st Annual Skilled Trades Camp.

The camp was completely free to them and featured business and industry tours, site visits to apprenticeship training facilities, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and conversations with industry experts. The students were able to do a jobsite visit of our in-progress 12,650 SF Kwik Star convenience store and truck stop in Altoona and visit with Superintendent Scott Gerhardt for questions and on-the-job insight.

DSC co-owner Don Snyder was also on site to help grill for the students and staff of the camp, as well as jobsite crew members.
